Which platform did better
With ChatGPT ads and Google Ads on the same client, MetricDeck sets them side by side over the same days and says, in plain sentences, which one turned spend into conversions more cheaply.
Google Ads and OpenAI Ads cost about the same per conversion ($23.58 and $28.04).
Google Ads took 92% of the spend and brought 93% of the conversions.
| Platform | Spend | Share | Clicks | Conversions | Cost per conversion |

| Google Ads | $17,657 | 92% | 19,543 | 749 | $23.58 |
| OpenAI Ads | $1,571 | 8% | 1,444 | 56 | $28.04 |

What you get
Spend to conversions
Spend, impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, CPM, conversions and cost per conversion, by day, week or month, in the account's own currency and timezone.
Budgets that warn you
An alert when a live campaign has 10% of its lifetime budget left, or 3 days at the last week's pace. OpenAI stops the ads when it runs out.
Rejected ads, caught
An alert when an ad fails OpenAI's review, critical when a live campaign has no ad left that can show, and when the brand review blocks the account.
Every campaign and ad
Status, lifetime budget used and spend since each campaign began; every ad with its review status, its words and its numbers.
The alerts Google Ads gets
Spend jumping or stopping, cost per conversion up, conversions stopped, and spend with no conversion tracking.
Side by side with Google Ads
Spend share and cost per conversion against Google Ads over the same days, on the Overview, in the AI summary and in the client report.
Why you can trust the numbers
Read-only: the key is used to read reports, campaigns and ads, never to change them.
The key is checked with OpenAI before it's saved, stored encrypted, and only ever sent to OpenAI's Ads API.
Each account stays in its own currency and timezone, never converted or added to another.
When OpenAI can't report conversions, MetricDeck says so instead of showing a zero.
Step by step, with what each screen says: connect OpenAI Ads.
FAQ
Questions
- How do I connect a client's ChatGPT ads?
- In OpenAI Ads Manager, open the client's ad account, go to Settings and create an Advertiser API key. In MetricDeck, open the project, then Sources → OpenAI Ads, paste the key and choose Check key. MetricDeck asks OpenAI which ad account the key opens, shows it to you, and stores the key encrypted once you connect.
- Can MetricDeck change my campaigns?
- No. MetricDeck uses the key only to read reports, campaigns and ads. It never creates, edits, pauses or spends anything, and the key is only ever sent to OpenAI's Ads API.
- Why is there no ROAS?
- OpenAI's API doesn't report conversion value, so there's no revenue to divide by. Spend, clicks, CTR, CPC, CPM, conversions and cost per conversion are all there.
- What if the account has no conversion tracking?
- MetricDeck says it isn't set up rather than showing zero conversions, and an account spending with no tracking raises an alert. If OpenAI declines to report conversions for a while, the delivery numbers still come in and OpenAI's reason shows on the tab.
- How far back does it go?
- 90 days on the first sync. Each sync then reads the last 30 days again, because conversions keep arriving for up to 30 days after a click. Today's conversions arrive tomorrow: OpenAI reports them for whole days only.
- What about clients with several ad accounts, or in another currency?
- Each key opens one ad account, so connect one key per account. Every account stays in its own currency and timezone: MetricDeck never converts it or adds it to Google Ads in another currency.
