Northwind Dental· Clarity · What to fix
Sample data
  • 38% of visits to /emergency-dentist turned straight backCritical

People opened the page and returned to where they came from within seconds: it didn't match what they expected. Some of these were paid visits: ad spend that bought nothing.

About ₹3,323 of ad spend went into the 98 paid visits that hit this.

What to do: Check the page says what the ad or link that sends people there promised (same offer, same words) and shows it without scrolling.

  • JavaScript errors in 18% of visits to /book-appointment (mostly on phones)Critical

A failing script can stop a form, a button or the checkout from working, so these visitors may not have been able to do what they came for. Some of these were paid visits: ad spend that bought nothing.

About ₹967.18 of ad spend went into the 28 paid visits that hit this.

What to do: In Clarity, filter recordings to this page and JavaScript errors to see which script fails, then try the page's forms and buttons yourself.

  • Clicks on /book-appointment triggered an error in 15% of visitsCritical

Visitors clicked something and it broke, often a form submit or an add-to-cart button: a lead or a sale lost at the last step. Some of these were paid visits: ad spend that bought nothing.

About ₹700.37 of ad spend went into the 21 paid visits that hit this.

What to do: Watch this page's recordings with error clicks, then click the same element yourself and check the browser console.

  • Most visitors never scroll past the top of / (12% of the page seen on average)Attention

Anything below the first screen, your main call to action included if it sits further down, goes unseen by most visitors.

What to do: Move the main message and the main action into the first screen, or give people a clear reason to scroll.

Northwind Dental is one of the demo agency's made-up clients, with made-up Clarity numbers. The problems, their order, their wording and the ad spend are what MetricDeck's own rules write from them, using the client's Google Ads cost per click (₹34.03).

The check, before and after

Finding which of a client's pages frustrate visitors, and whether paid traffic lands on them.

Each week, if you look after 10 clients.

With MetricDeck2 min

Our estimate for one site per client, checked weekly by hand. Most agencies don't do it every week, which is how a broken booking form on phones goes unnoticed for a month.

By hand

22 min
  1. 01Open the client's Clarity dashboard and filter for rage clicks, dead clicks, quick backs and JavaScript errors4 min
  2. 02Find which pages they happen on, and whether there are enough visits to matter4 min
  3. 03Check which of those pages your ads send people to, and on which device it breaks5 min
  4. 04Work out what the paid clicks to those pages cost from Google Ads4 min

With MetricDeck

2 min
  1. 01Nothing to run: each client's Clarity is read every night, and an alert says when a page starts breakingAutomatic
  2. 02Open the Clarity tab: problems worst first, paid visits and ad spend included, then watch that page's recordings in Clarity2 min

What you get

  • What to fix, worst first

Each problem page with why it costs the business and what to do first, ranked by the visits it loses and the paid ones most.

  • The ad spend behind it

Paid visits judged apart, and an estimate of what the clicks that hit a problem cost, from the client's own Google Ads.

  • Phones or computers

When a problem happens mostly on one kind of device, it says so, because that's where the fix is.

  • An alert when a page breaks

JavaScript errors in 5% of a page's visits, rage clicks in 3%, or paid visitors turning straight back: on the Attention page and by email.

  • Every signal Clarity measures

Errors, clicks that set one off, rage and dead clicks, quick backs, hunting scrolls and shallow scrolling, per page and channel.

  • In the AI summary

The morning summary reads it with the client's ads, search and traffic, and can point a step straight at the page to fix.

Why you can trust the result

  • No AI decides what's a problem: it's rules over Clarity's own numbers, the same on the Clarity tab, in the alerts and in the summary.

  • A page needs 20 visits in the week before it's judged, so one bad visit can't raise an alarm.

  • Dead clicks only count when a page has far more than the site's own usual, since every site has some.

  • Read-only, with Clarity's totals only: no recordings or anything about a single visitor ever leaves Clarity.

FAQ

Questions

Do I need Microsoft Clarity?
Yes: MetricDeck reads it, it doesn't replace it. Clarity is free, with no traffic limit; add its tracking code to the client's site, then connect the project with a Data Export API token from Clarity's settings.
Why not just look at Clarity's own dashboard?
Clarity shows every recording and heatmap for one site at a time. MetricDeck tells you which page, on which client, is costing visits and by how much, next to what those visitors cost in Google Ads, and raises an alert when it starts. Then you open that page's recordings in Clarity.
Does MetricDeck see recordings or personal data?
No. Clarity's API only shares totals per page: visits, scroll depth, time, and the share of visits with each frustration signal. No recordings, heatmaps, IP addresses or anything about a single visitor.
How is the ad spend worked out?
The paid visits that hit a problem, times what a click cost on the client's Google Ads over the same days. Both numbers come from the platforms; the multiplication is code, and it's labelled an estimate because Clarity's paid visits and Google's clicks are counted separately.
How far back does it go?
Clarity's API shares only the last 24 hours, so history starts the day you connect and grows by a day each night. The Clarity tab judges the last 7 days.
Which plans include it?
Every plan, the free one included. It counts as a source on a project, like Search Console or Google Ads.
